Tips for keeping your dog safe during holiday season, parties, visitors and presents!

• Do keep your dog in a safe area when there is a party going on, keep them away from loud noises or lots of people as it can become too overwhelming for them.
• Do consider crate training your dog so that this becomes a safe area for them when you do want to get them away from large groups or parties going on.
• Do keep your dog busy and mentally stimulated, play fun games with your dog, keep your dog active and get out and walk your dog!
• Don't let holiday guests or party people feed your dog, they could be feeding it something that could harm it.
• Don't let your dog out of sight if there is lots of food leftovers sitting around, especially cake, BBQ meat, bones that are cooked, fat, chocolate and alcohol
• Don't let your dog jump all over your visitors, this will make your dog look badly behaved and they won't want to visit you!
• Do feed your dog their meals after you have eaten, this can help with establishing pack heirarchy, plus if they have a full belly then they won't always want to search out for food in the bins.
• Do cover up your bins in the kitchen, outside etc.
• Don't expect your dog to keep itself amused, it will get into trouble and destroy things, because of boredom.
• Don't let small children go near your dog when it's feeding.
